Print Making

1.    Describe the overall composition of your artwork (balance, unity, rhythm and movement).
I think the way the lines move in different diretions help balance the picture. Also it looks like the fox is focused on something. The fox is not the center of the picture so it balances the background.

2.     How did you add texture and contrast to your print? Is this important? Why?
I added the texture to the trees by cutting them the deepest. the fur had squiggle lines that had different widths. the tree stump had rings and the fox back was completely smooth.

3.     Explain how you used positive and negative space to show your image.
I used positive and negative space the most on trees. the tree stump had the opposite use of positive and negative space so it had defintion against the fox.

4.     Describe the craftsmanship of your print. (How good the project is technically crafted)
I think that it is very well crafted. it looks like equal amounts of time went into each section. the color scheme also compliments it.

5.     Were you able to achieve depth by showing a foreground, middle ground and back- ground? Explain.
Yes, it was easier to show this by using positive and negative space.

6.     Explain your experience with Printmaking. What were the obstacles and advantages?
I thought it was fun but i wanted to do something besides animals.
Obstacles- patience to do each task
Advantages- I am a quick worker

Print Sketches

1. Why is texture so important to have in your sketches?

If you have the same texture for everything in your piece than there will be no definition between what is the animal and what is the background. It also adds a whole new level of artistry when you have detailed textures.

2. Why is it neccessary for you to have several references of each animal and each background? Explain.

You dont want to copy someone's artwork. You want to get different angles of your animal so you can get creative. Also it can help you create when you get artist block.

3. When you look at your sketches are you able to see which sketch is the strongest and will make the best print? How do you know this?

Yes I think the squirrell will make the best print sketch. The texture on the tree is completely a different texture than the squirrell's tail so that will make a very cool effect. I can also get the entire squirrel in the picture not jsut its head.

Interactive Chalk Mural

1. Explain your experience working on a team and executing your ideas for the mural.

I had a very positive experience working with my group. Each person seem to be passionate about this project and wanted to succeed. It was a little challenging because everyone is at different levels with their artistic abilities so we had trouble explainign how to draw what was in our mind but we got the message across.

2. Explain the importance of collaboration when working on a team.

It is very important to learn how to coollaborate with others because it helps you learn your strengths and weaknesses when working with a group. Also it helps you see things from a different perspective. In my opinion getting a new perspective helps you grow as an artist.
3.  How successful was this project? Explain how and why.

This project was very successful. We all tried our hardest to make the end result the best it can be. If you try your best at something its never a failure because you tried.
4. Explain how you feel about creating artwork that others can interact with. Ex. Invoving the whole school?

I thought it was really cool. My friends actually said that they like the solar system one a lot and I said that's mine and they were shocked. They had no idea that i was artistic.
